Book Review of Key To My Soul

Key To My Soul is a heart touching novel by Probal Mazumdar. This book talks about love, betrayal, social issues and even it has glimpse of flashback technique blended with epistolary style of writing.

Cover and Title: The cover is simple yet elegant and it symbolises the thoughts of sepration and reunion. Further, Key To My Soul is again symbolic title as the literal meaning is something else. It is not exactly about a key but indirectly about a key of love.

Blurb: “When Siddharth, a lonely young man with a failed marriage gets a sudden phone-call from a mysterious person about his lost childhood lover, Hazel and learns that she is battling for life, he is shaken to the core. He also learns that she had left certain letters for him fifteen years back that never reached him. It disturbs him so much that he rushes to the hospital in his old hometown. There he discovers an eclipsed past buried in time that is riddled with dangerous surprises, trauma, twists of fate, sacrifices that exemplify true love and the real reasons for the tragic end of their childhood love story. But will Hazel ever open her eyes to see him..

Plot: The plot is intriguing and it grabs the attention of the readers. The story is about Hazel and Siddharth who beautifully carry the story forward. This is their story but fate has some other plans for them. They are meant for each other but gets separated by destiny and even by people. The best part is, it is not like those teen love fictions. The emotions are so strong that it binds your soul till the end.

Characterisation: The author seems to have mastered the skill of constructing complicated characters. I feel every character I came across had their own story, struggles and battles to handle. Hazel and Siddarth are the protagonists. With passage of time or say with every new page, I could find new colours in their characters. Their strong love is challenged and the way after so many struggles they handle their life.

Style: The style of writing is simple and the language is easy to comprehend. The flashbacks and epistolar styles add flavours to the book. The beautiful poem in the end makes your cry for these lovers. At times, we are in thoughts likewhat if she had reacted this way or what if they had told about it? So many questions hover over my mind. But I really loved this book. This book is a must read.

Book Review of The Day Before I Died

The Day Before I Died by Ashi Kalim is a historical fiction with a blend of hope, betrayal, love and many other emotions. This book has powerful names which makes it strong.

51c6Ab3kg4L

The cover of the book fascinates the readers as it has a beautiful doll in it. This doll is Matryoshka doll that is a Russian Doll and has symbolic significance in it. Every girl who is treated as a doll in the family can co-relate to it.

The title is captivating and it arises an urge to know more and more. It is about the moments of war, love, betrayal.

The lesser known TRUE Love Story of a RUSSIAN dictator Josef Stalin’ s Daughter that changed the world order forever……..

Svetlana had never known pure love, till she meets Brajesh…
Brajesh is a fun-loving, mischievous and caring Indian prince who visits Russia and captures Svetlana’s heart. He christens her as “His Matryoshka.”
Once his work gets done, he leaves for India, taking Svetlana’s heart with him.
Unable to forget him and confident of his love for her, Svetlana travels to India in search of her prince.
Does she find him? What happens to her love? How does the international politics affect her life?
Inspired by true life incidents, The Day Before… I Died narrates the love between Svetlana – daughter of the infamous dictator Josef Stalin – and Brajesh Singh, an Indian Kunwar.
The murder, trails, betrayals and the hope leads to more agony.

The opening line by Hitler takes away my heart. This is a glimpse of a powerful start. The story revolves around Svetlana who happens to be the daughter of great Stalin. She is treated as a doll. Life takes a turn when she comes across Brajesh, who has come from India. This story has various twists and turns. Moreover, it highlights international politics in an enlightened way.

The way the author has characterised Svetlana is impeccable. I instantly fell in love with her character. The way she doesnt idolise her father, Stalin, the way she admires Brajesh’s thoughts. Her selfless love for Brajesh and the people related to him makes her a great figure. She is adaptable to her surroundings which is the strongest point in her character portrayal.

The style of writing is simple yet poetic. The very first page has a poem about Matryoshka which moves you to such an extend that the hopes of this book being a hit begin to hover your mind. Further, the way the author has expressed her thoughts through her moutpiece, Svetlana is worth appreciating. There were certain editing errors here and there but that doesnt affect the powerful thought process.

NOte: Mostly books of debutantes are dissected badly. We reviewers always talk about the negatives and not highlight the best ever points. So, here I tried to make a change in my pattern. I will talk about the positives more and negatives less. FOr me, this book is a must buy book. This review is unbiased and honest.

Book Review of A Walk in the Rain

A Walk in the Rain by Udai Kumar Yadla is a romantic fiction blended with socialistic factors. The book is full of twist and turns which keeps you glued till the end. Plus, the name of the characters are somewhere relatable. The author depicts the simplest emotions to the darkest miseries in this novel.

51vdqafjsfl

The cover of the book gives us a glimpse of a couple who are walking in the rain with hands in hands. This picture gives us a clear cut idea of a romantic fiction.

The title perfectly fits the cover of the book. A Walk in the Rain is a sort of journey of two lovers whose destiny is decided by rain. Thats what we can make out from the title but here plays the role of author who always surprises his readers.

Love is elixir that keeps you alive. Love is poison that kills you. Unreciprocated love keeps you alive but kills every day.

Heartbroken Sunny lives a reclusive life, trapped in the past, living in his memories. He has no complaints about his life but refuses to embrace the present.
Saloni is a prostitute who is desperate to earn money by any means. She does not care about exploiting others to fulfill her purpose.
Fate unites the loner and the prostitute to embark on a life changing journey of retribution and self discovery.

Lovelorn Sunny turns misogynistic after Sandy, the only girl he loved walks away from his life, unannounced. He suffers painful solitude for almost two decades with the relentless haunting of her thoughts. A distressed friend Imran, vows to change his life forever. A surprise planned for his birthday turns into a tragedy that claims the life of his dear friend, triggering a series of unbelievable events. As Imran gets killed by a stranger, Sunny’s calm life suddenly turns into a turbulent storm. With nothing left to live for, vengeance becomes his ultimate mission. His reluctant alliance with a prostitute to trace the killer sets him onto a nerve racking adventure of life and death.

Both are bound to a common goal with different motives but destiny has its own motive. A walk in the rain is an intricate tale of intense emotions, driven by hair raising twists and turns.

The plot is knitted well but it was predictable. Although the meeting, separation, drama and everything was at the right place. The characters also helped in the plot construction.

This book talks about Human Trafficking, prostituition. These two issues are a blot on the society we live in. But circumstances force people to indulge in these activities and the sufferers have to go through so much because of this.

Saloni and Sunny are the protagonists of the novel. Sunny is a bitter, misogynistic man who hates the world. Even when he needs Saloni’s help, he can’t bring himself to trust her. Life has been hard on Saloni. In spite of her desperate straits, she manages to hold on to her small shred of self-respect. It is hard for Sunny to trust on someone as he had taken so much.

The writing style is simple, lucid and condensed. The use of flashbacks and prologue has made it beautiful. The thought process is loved by the readers. Its hard to believe that its author’s debut as he has comprehended the thoughts so well. This book deserves to be converted into a movie.

Review

Double or Quits by Shilpa Gupta is an inspiring novel. It is full of motivation and messages. The characters are the mouthpiece of the author and the way she conveys their thoughts is remarkable. The cover of the book surely mesmerize the readers. The color scheme is just apt. The title surely matches the view points shared in the book. We get to know this at the end of the novel.

The plot is gripping and keeps the readers hooked till the end. The story revolves around Jyotsna and the way she makes a place in the society, how she handles the situations without any fear. The book is a roller coaster where we find the hero much later.

The theme of love, friendship, work takes a complete space in the book. Whereas we come to know about the life in a jail. It is difficult though, yet the way it is delineated is appreciable.

The characterization is stupendous. The way the author has highlighted Jyotsna’s character is worth appreciating. Her love, ambitions, struggles surely move the readers and even we end up crying at places. Aryan Sahani is a billionnaire who wants to make Sahani Hospitals a hit by any means. He is infatuated with Jyotsna. The way the things move between them and turn out is a shock for the readers. Nitin’s role is really important and for that you surely need to read this book.

The style of writing is simple, lucid and interesting. The third person narrative and impersonal descriptions makes it organised. The flashbacks are there in between and one surely loves it. The editing is perfectly done and this book can be converted into a movie.

Book Review of Thirty Eight Days by Len Webster

Thirty Eight Days by Len Webster is a romantic fiction. It is the first book in the Thirty Eight Series. The book is just beautiful in its own way as it is perfect in every possible way.

410heBSNYgL.jpg

The cover of the book is enthralling. It leaves you in an awe. The cover has a pretty girl who is lost in the fragrance of the flower. The cover surely gives us wonderful vibes. If you are judging the cover then it won’t take you another second to buy this book.

The title is intriguing in itself. Thirty Eight Days keeps us in a confused mode as we are not able to make out like what exactly are these Thirty Eight Days? What the author is going to tell us. These thoughts add curiosity in our minds.

Ask yourself, how many days does it take to fall in love? Nolan Parker and Clara Lawrence never saw eye to eye. In fact, if you asked Clara she would tell you that Nolan hated every thing about her. They never shared any form of connection besides Alex Lawrence. She was Alex’s bratty sister and he was Alex’s best friend, they never stood a chance. Five years have passed and almost 12,000 miles have kept them separated, both living completely different lives. Unchanged perceptions and expectations should have kept them apart but when Nolan returns, the foundations of their ‘relationship’ is sure to change. Their story was meant to end the day Nolan left for Stanford. But what if seeing each other after five years was the game changer? What if this was their one chance to rewrite their relationship or were they always destined to never be more?

The plot is neatly woven and it revolves around Nolan Parker and Clara Lawrence. Both are childhood acquaintances. Clara is the sister of Nolan’s best friend, Alex Lawrence. This is story of their childhood bond which they realize when they meet again after 14 years. Heartbroken Clara finds solace in Nolan. The twists and turns makes this plot more interesting.

The book follows a theme of brother sister relationship where we notice Clara and Alex being the best brother sister. The way ALex pamper his sister, Clara gives us a homely atmosphere. Further, The theme of friendship is really strong in this book. Annie, Josie, Stephie have been fantastic friends to Clara whereas Rob, Alex and Nolan are inseparable. The love theme is the main one which takes away our hearts. Readers instantly fall for Nolan and Clara.

The characterization is the strongest segment in this book. Clara is heartbroken after Darren’s betrayal and Nolan enters her life like a wind. The beauty of Clara and her features are appreciable. Further, Nolan Parker comes back to Melbourne only because of his best friend, Alex who wants him to look after his sister. Alex plays the role of a true supporter and a caring brother blended with a confidante for Nolan.

This book surely gives us the glimpses of life in a Foreign land. The use of descriptions and lifestyle are impeccable. Since the author is from Australia so we can find some native touch. The style of writing is simple, clear and bold. The way the author has used point of views and chapter names with the names of characters, Clara and Noel, is just perfect. The use of wit, humor, drama and thriller part makes it stand out. The end is written in such a way that it can be connected to the next book in the series, Thirty Eight Reasons.

Book Review of An Eye for An Eye My Love

An Eye for An Eye My Love by Vibhor Tikiya is a heart shaking novel that can leave you with thousands of questions with no answers to be heard around. The author has talked about the combination of a carefree life with a worst life. This book surely makes you laugh and cry at the same time.

an-eye-for-an-eye-my-love-198x300.jpg

The cover of the book is breathtaking as it has a couple who are lost in each other. This surely gives us a glimpse that it is a love story. The colour scheme is beautiful.

The title is different and highlights a serious issue which we comes to know about once we start reading the chapters. The story is linked to the title somewhere and makes sense.

Dhruv is a vagabond who lives life king size, without having to work for a living. He wanders around the world without a purpose. Life, however, takes a turn when he meets Aisha in Paris and falls heads over heels in love with her. An escapist, he is unable to express his love while his lady love moves back home to India. Dhruv decides to go after her to the country that wasn’t very kind to his late mother. To add to his misery, he loses Aisha in a violent incident. Transformed into the reluctant fundamentalist, Dhruv seeks punishment for the culprit through law. It’s when the loopholes in the system seem to be favouring the wrong side thathe seeks vigilante justice. Aided by two men with their own agendas, he fights to achieve justice and balance. “I want to live” – the last words of a woman who changed India forever – inspire this tale of love, justice and revenge.

This book talks about the serious issue called rape. We are well acquainted with the fact that on December 16, 2012 the whole country was blown by a loud cry. The last words of the victim in the Nirbhya sexual assault case were, “I WANT TO LIVE”. This incident became the inspiration for the author so he came up with this piece. I must say it is really difficult to comprehend such a situation.

The characterisation is marvelleous. It is difficult to delineate entirely different characters with entirely different idealogies. Dhruv is a vagabond whereas Aisha has a father and job to look after. Life takes a turn when they both are in love but a tragedy takes away all the happiness of their lives. This story is serious but the first half can surely make you laugh and smile.

The style of writing is simple, lucid and clear. The way the author has used witty and condensed language is impeccable. The use of quotes is main highlight. The editing seems to be apt. The beginning of chapter has some deep conversation with the mom which makes it stand out and unique. The feelings depicted by adding emotions, pain, drama, suspense and mystery is just perfect. If you want all the flavours of a novel then this book is the best choice.
